mama

I'm the only kid out of 4 that takes on any noticeable characteristics from my moms side and I'm totally okay with that. She's a beautiful woman inside and out.

WEE

I wish she could live with me. Life is so much easier (emotionally, i guess) when you have a pet in the house

Lightning Bug Storytime

So, I've always wanted to try a time exposure of lightning bugs. I took several attempts for a couple good pictures. Here are a few.

I haven't seen too many lightning bugs the last couple times I went home to central Illinois. Normally there are overwhelming amounts of them there. But then again when I think about all of my memories I have of lightning bugs, which include: chasing them in my front yard every night in the summer as a child, catching a whole bug box full of them, sitting and watching the box lighting up all night until i fell asleep (unless my brothers got to them. They had a tendency to squish every one of them across the driveway just to see the long streak of their guts glow and/or they did this to pick on their younger sister). Other memories involve me being really high in high school and going out to the forest preserve with my best friend and watching them light up the sky for hours. The only light in the sky came from thousands of these little bugs- moments like these are among some of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.
The point is, I'm wondering if my perception of a million lightning bugs lighting up the sky comes from my childhood memories, where everything was bigger, better and more mystical. Either this or my perception of them comes from the memories I made while my mind was altered.
This is one of the new items in my etsy store. People seem to really like it.

Tea...go figure

So recently over spring break (not so recently, i suppose..) my sister, step mom and I went to South Carolina. My favorite day was when we visited to only tea plantation in the U.S! So, my sister and I, of course stocked up on lots of tea, grown on our home turf. Best. Tea.Ever

My new teacup and green tea from tea plantation.

Elephant Makeover

So Far.....

We found this little guy in the middle of a field by our house. Since we needed some decorations for the yard, we decided to take him home and spruce him up.

Lemon Shortbread Cookies

My sister made lemon shortbread cookies..I did the honors of eating them. We cut the shapes out with our new teapot cookie cutters that we got at Charleston Tea Plantation. She doesn't have her blog set up yet but here are some pictures that i took of the process!

Shamrock Shuffle 2011

Yesterday i ran my first race outside of Jr. High and High School...The Shamrock Shuffle, the largest 8k in the world. The roomates and I all participated. I finished the race with a time of 50:40. That was the goal i set so im pretty satisfied.

Ol' St. Pat

The roommates and i threw a Kegs n' Eggs party. We got up early, spiked our coffee with Baileys and ate a breakfast feast. The rest of the girls and their families then continued to down some Guiness, eat more then stumble their ways to the St. Patricks Day parade. Never go to the St. Patricks day parade in Chicago. It was miserable...way too many people...drunken people.

But! on a good note, my sister and I made cute decorations and Carter came up with the new puppy. A long nap proceeded this. GOOD DAY

side note: this site really ruins my images when i upload them  :(

dumb weather

It's that time in the year where it's clearly still winter but you want it to be spring so bad. I can't stop thinking about buying flower pots, decorating them and planting a plethora of flowers and veggies in our garden. I need to be studying but I just want to go outside and sweep up the dead shit that's covering our back patio and front yard. I cant help but want to remove the dead leaves and thistle from our yard, to leave room for the new plantlife to grow. I dont know how this would make the season transition much easier but it's the least I can do.

Today, along with the past week and weeks to come are among the most annoying times of the year. I'm the type of person who goes through crazy mood swings and depression spells when the weather starts to change. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense but I think it's probably just because I get so use to the current season, that when it changes or goes "bi-polar" during the winter to spring transition, my mood too goes back and forth, up and down along with it. It's not something i can control very easily. This is especially hard during midterm test week, right before my spring break vacation and during the time where my Senioritis is starting to kick in.

So to ease the stress, I'm going to soem second hand stores to find flower pots today. It's just something i need to do, "therapy" if you will. Slowly but surely, updates are coming soon.....Slowly but surely, spring will have sprung.
